The English Carnival

The English carnival is celebrated on 2 consecutive days and is held in the Notting Hill area (London). The protagonists of this event are people in masks, dancers, jugglers and musicians who dance and have fun along the streets of the neighborhood.In 1965 a group of migrants from the Caribbean began to organize these 2 days of events that attracted many people so much to make the English carnival is a fixed event that attracts millions of people from all over the world every year. No other English city celebrates this holiday, except for some areas where the pancake race takes place on the occasion of Mardi Gras (“pancake Tuesday”): the participants run by blowing the pancake into a pot without dropping it, whoever makes a mistake is eliminated. Today the English carnival attracts around 1 million participants every year and is the most important attraction in the Notting Hill area.During this festival there are numerous varieties of music and rhythm: from Reggae music to Samba. fascinating allegorical floats that move along the streets of the neighborhood and offer the opportunity to get on them and have fun to the rhythm of music.
